EFD is based in London and handles worldwide sales and distribution for feature films produced by Spitfire Pictures and Hammer Films, as well as the Exclusive Media library.
The company also actively seeks to acquire pick-ups of third party productions for worldwide sales and distribution.
Exclusive’s senior management are Chairman Guy East, Managing Director Andy Mayson and Head of Sales Peter Naish.
Along with its parent company, EFD chose to adopt the name of the company which distributed the original Hammer films in the 1940s and 1950s, when the name Exclusive was synonymous with British filmmaking.
With digital convergence continuing to change the marketing and distribution landscape, Exclusive believes that the need for a talent-based strong content business and quality theatrical output has never been greater.
Representing a diverse slate of titles across popular and commercial genres – including epic adventure, thriller, romantic comedy, horror and drama – it’s time for Exclusive to ride the wave of past success once more…
Exclusive Films – A Short History
Exclusive Films was formed in 1935 by Enrique Carreras and William Hinds, Hinds having formed Hammer the year before. In addition to producing both features and documentaries, Exclusive distributed all of Hammer’s output pre-1937 including the Paul Robeson feature ‘The Song Of Freedom’ and ‘The Mystery of The Mary Celeste’ starring Bela Lugosi.
When Hammer fell dormant during the war, Exclusive continued to distribute movies from other companies. Heralded by its ship logo and the “It’s British – It’s Exclusive!” tagline, Exclusive was most active between 1948 and 1959, co-producing and distributing films from the newly revived Hammer including the ‘Dick Barton’ trilogy and the first two ‘Quatermass’ films.
Exclusive also continued to distribute films from other production companies including US company Lippert Pictures who partnered with Hammer on several films in the early 1950s. Exclusive became inactive in the late 1960s, with all rights passing to Hammer.
